Caring for your outdoor planters

Sun, water and the odd knock. Simple habits that keep your planters looking good for years.

Caring for your outdoor planters

Our planters are built for the Egyptian sun, but a little care goes a long way. Here's what we tell everyone who takes a pot home.

Pick the right spot

  • Stand pots on flat, level ground so they can't rock or tip.
  • In extreme heat, a little shade helps protect the finish.
  • Slight colour change after years of strong sun is normal.

Keep the water moving

  • Keep drainage holes open, and never let water collect inside the pot.
  • A layer of gravel at the bottom protects both the roots and the planter.

Clean gently

  • A soft cloth, mild soap and water is all you need.
  • Skip steel wool, rough brushes and harsh or acidic cleaners.
  • Rinse with clean water so nothing is left behind.

Move with care

  • Lift from the base, never the rim.
  • Don't drag. It scratches the pot and stresses the base.
  • Large GRC pots are heavy, so use two people or a trolley.
Small marks?

Light scratches can usually be touched up. Get in touch and we'll help.
